How we handle your information

What we collect
To run your case, we collect the information you give us when you sign up and submit a case:
- Account email and password (passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text).
- Case files you upload — home inspection reports, property photos, video, and the property address.
- Mobile device information when you use our app to document a property.
- Payment metadata (such as billing name and transaction status). We never see or store your full card number — payment processing is handled by Stripe and Hostinger.
Why we use it
We use this information to deliver the service: organizing your evidence, putting a structured case in front of the licensed Professional Engineer reviewing it, and billing the $10/month platform subscription. The photos, video, and address you upload exist so the engineer can actually review your property.
Who we share it with
We share your information only as needed to deliver the service:
- The independent licensed engineering firm assigned to your case, so their PE can review your evidence and issue the letter.
- Stripe and Hostinger, which process subscription payments on our behalf.
- Hostinger, which hosts our platform.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and case files for as long as your account is active and as needed afterward to maintain records of the engineering work, respond to disputes, and meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and personal information at any time (see Your rights below), though we may need to retain certain records where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to receive a copy of it. Email us at hello@instantengineer.ai and we’ll respond. If you have an active case, deleting your account may affect the engineering firm’s ability to complete or stand behind that work.
Mobile camera, microphone, and photo access
When you use our app to document a property, we may request access to your device’s camera, microphone, and photos. That access is used only to capture photos, video, and audio of the property so the PE can review it. You can revoke that access at any time through your device settings.
Not for children
The service is not directed to anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us at hello@instantengineer.ai and we’ll delete it.
California and GDPR requests
If you’re in California or the European Economic Area, you have the right to ask us to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email hello@instantengineer.ai from the address associated with your account and tell us what you need. We’ll verify your identity and respond within the time the law requires.
Under the GDPR you have the right to: access your personal data, have inaccurate data rectified, request erasure, receive your data in a portable format, and object to processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
